Breastfeeding pressed choices

I recently read in the paper an artical about Mothers who feel pressed into breastfeeding, This got me thinking, Being a mum of 3 i have successfully breast fed all 3 of my children and still am breastfeeding my youngest, this put me in a good place to think about the information which is missing based on my experiences. Sadly Mothers who choose or cant breast feed for what ever reason are left feeling like they have failed their babies, this is sad, being a parent has its pressures anyway with our being judged on our choices or circumstances. I would be nice for the future to see mothers given proper advice about the choices available not having Breast is Best drummed into them. There are alternatives, Due to having a Baby born with special needs unexpectedly i found this out the hard way as she was unable to breastfeed, i had no help or advice on the matter and due to her being unable to feed and being left with no help, she became very ill and ended up using trail and error to make her better, entering a world i had never been in before. From this experience it seems Midwives are also un equipped to advice on alternatives.

On a personal note if you are pregnant explore your options don't get pressured into anything you are unsure of or feel uncomfortable with, in the long run it will cause more harm, but if you can don't be afraid to try breastfeeding.
