The right to choose

Today I read in the paper the story of a man battling to win the right for someone to end his life and avoid prosecution. The story read that this would change the murder laws, I was confused by this surely murder is taking a life without consent and euthanasia is helping someone to die. This man is sadly trapped in his own body but fully in control of his own mind. If an animal was kept alive in this state it would be seen as cruel . Sadly we don't have this choice as humans, I know all life is sacred and special but living a life of unhappiness with no cure can surely not be a life at all, it would be nice to think in this situation we would have the right to choose.
